An extremely beautiful and highly performing Aiiwatani Kiita. These stones were stored in the warehouse of a wholesaler since the 1960's. They recently found them and were excited to offer them. This stone is a beautiful yellow/orange Kiita Tamagoiro (Egg colored) stone from the Tomae layer of the Aiiwatani mine. This stone is quite hard and dense but has a lovely, smooth and gentle feel when honing on water only. There is no visible self slurry and a moderate amount of swarf is released. When slurrying this stone, the grit rich mud cuts the steel and blackens the slurry immediately. The stone can remove medium grit scratches and works best as a final finisher for razors, knives and tools. The stone is unique in the sense that it has high hardness and density but feels extremely smooth and gentle in use.w
