Beautiful, sword grade Binsui Naka Toishi (medium grit). This stone can be used as a substitute for a synthetic bevel setter for razors. The main difference between this Binsui and others commonly seen on the market, is it's consistent particle uniformity. This is very important when honing razors as the resulting edges/polish will be considerably more mellow than a synthetic stone. This is due to the fact that natural stones leave scratches which are much more shallow than their synthetic counterparts.
This Binsui has purple/red/pink dots running throughout the stone. When flattening/slurrying the stone, the resulting mud is a vibrant, pink color, reminiscent of Renge Suita.
The overall balance of cutting speed, shallow, uniform scratches and mellow edge, make it a great option for an all natural progression for knives/swords/tools and razors.
A photo of the stone's polishing ability on a high quality Japanese kitchen knife is shown.
