NOTE: These are new hones, cut and lapped and labelled by us here at GSG from old stock raw stone blocks left over from mining done 50+ years ago.
They are offered in large sizes never produced by the workshop, are lapped perfectly flat and ready to use immediately and have the vintage paper labels from the mine. 
Offered here are the gray variety of Tam O Shanter sharpening stones, a piece of history from the original workshop on the Dalmore estate in rural Stair, Scotland.

Characterized by a speckled pattern, these stones exhibit an aesthetically stunning appearance. The Tam O'Shanter, prized for its ability to achieve "very fine cuts," approaches 10,000 grit. Its applications extend to meticulous edge finishing or the removal of micro blemishes, resulting in extra keen cutting edges. Notably, these stones demonstrate compatibility with razors susceptible to micro-chipping. Employing a slurry (can be generated by a diamond plate) enhances the stone's polishing efficiency, elevating the speed at which they perform.
