This exceptional Japanese Whetstone is a rare treasure, purchased by us from the estate of a collector of fine Japanese hones. A large bench size hone, it measures 205.7 mm long × 76.2 mm wide × 31.8 mm thick (8.1 inches long × 3 inches wide × 1.25 inches thick) with a weight of 1302 grams. The hone features beautiful figuring throughout the honing surface.
This exceptional Japanese Okudo Tomae Asagi Whetstone is a rare treasure, purchased by us from the estate of a collector of fine Japanese hones. A large bench size hone, it measures 205mm long x 77mm wide and 35mm thick (8.07 inches long × 3.03 inches wide × 1.38 inches thick) with a weight of 1550 grams. The hone features beautiful, live, swirling holographic cloudy appearance all over the surface.
Thoroughly evaluated by multiple experts, this whetstone comes with a pedigree of testing and appreciation. Initially assessed and sold by Keith Johnson of Brooklyn, a highly respected authority in the whetstone community, the stone has been extensively tested by its next owner with his notes included right on the stone.
