This exceptional Japanese Whetstone was purchased by us from the estate of a collector of fine Japanese hones. It measures 205mm long x 78mm wide and 24mm thick ( 7 inches long × 2.15 inches wide × 2 inches thick) with a weight of 1171 grams. The hone features beautiful figuring throughout the honing surface.

Thoroughly evaluated by experts, this whetstone has the following features:
Old mined Aoto koppa with extremely uniform particles. These type of Aoto are nearly non-existent on the market today as most examples are dried out mud machines that release too much inconsistent abrasive. This stone is firm and dense and performs with literally no inconsistencies. Great for knives, tools and razors.

Stone Details:

Performance:
-Razor: very smooth and velvety feedback with a little underlying grit feel as most natural Naka Toishi exhibit. This would be a great stone to follow up a synthetic medium grit stone to lay a natural fingerprint on the edge and built a Kasumi foundation for further, more fine stones.
- Knives/Tools- Dream Aoto for knives. Kasumi finish is rich and hazy with extremely even finish. Will lay a great contrasting base foundation for following with stones like Uchigumori. Edges are refined but aggressively toothy.
