Restoration: Fully restored- The blade was abrasively cleaned, fully polished and honed to shaving sharpness, newly made custom scales were fitted and finally the assembled razor was honed and stropped to a comfortable shaving edge, (all in-house by GSG)

Finishes: Crocus (mirror) finish on blade and spine, slight glazed (satin finish on the blade faces)
Condition: Just beautiful, only some scattered minor blemishes (patina) remaining in the steel, commensurate with its age

Material: newly made & hand carved 15,000+ year old wooly mammoth tusk ivory from the Siberian permafrost, Macassar ebony wood spacer wedge

About our restoration and honing process
Each one of our restored razors is brought back to life with a passion and attention to detail like it would be an addition to our own collection or user rotation. Many years of restoration experience and hundreds of restored razors sold around the world have refined our processes, but each razor is still given the time and individual attention it needs. Our vintage razors undergo dozens of steps involving blade unpinning (where necessarily) metal grinding/sanding with a range of different diameter and hardness wheels with various grits of abrasive and polishes. Scales are straightened and repaired when necessary, wet sanded and polishing. After the razor’s cosmetic and functional repairs are completed, a multistep honing process using a range of synthetic and natural sharpening stones is used to bring each razor back to keen and comfortable shaving sharpness. Finally stropping is performed on one of our cordovan leather strops and the blade is sanitized in Barbicide hospital-grade disinfectant.
