Kitayama Tomae Japanese Natural Toishi Whetstone for Knives and Razors
Quantity:
This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected and purchased by us directly from Japan, then thoroughly tested and coated with cashew lacquer on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use.
It measures 80mm (3.15 inches) long × 67mm (2.64 inches) wide × 20mm (0.79 inches) tall, and weighs 191g (0.42 pounds).
Beautiful colored Tomae stone from The Kitayama mine in Kameoka. This beautiful stone has a deep purple base called Ikimurasaki in Japan. It's quite firm for a western mine color Tomae and has an extremely smooth feel when honing razors with water only. Forced slurry increases the cutting speed and the mud is easily broken down with the stones firm base. A very rare little gem offered to us by the Natural Whetstone Museum. Perfect size for trial, travel and Kamisori honing. Can also be used as a large Tomo Nagura.
