Kouzaki Aoto Japanese Natural Toishi Whetstone for Knives and Razors
Quantity:
This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected and purchased by us directly from Japan, then thoroughly tested and coated with cashew lacquer on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use.
Approximate Dimensions/Weight:
197mm (7.76 inches) long × 50mm (1.97 inches) wide × 35mm (1.38 inches) tall, and weighs 860g (1.90 pounds).
Offerred here is an extremely high quality Kouzaki Aoto in affordable size. This Aoto is firm and on the fine side of things for Aoto. The white lines do not affect sharpening and they only function as a color at this point. Immediately upon sharpening, the stone cuts fast and efficient with extremely uniform, shallow scratches. once mud is released and light pressure is applied, the slurry breaks down fast and the shallow uniform scratches disappear into a hazy blanket of warm Kasumi finish with excellent contrast. The Jigane is smoky and rich and the core steel is shiny and semi mirror. Great piece to purchase if you've never tried a high quality Aoto but don't want to purchase a larger more expensive piece.
