Extremely rare Tomo Nagura or hand held Kamisori Hone from Kitayama in Kameoka Japan. This koppa was found by the Natural Whetstone Museum in Japan and we're very excited to be able to offer them. Kitayama is a much less known mine located in close proyto Maruoyama. The stones vary in characteristics but are generally less hard and fine than eastern mine stones. This particular koppa is velvety smooth and medium soft. There is just enough surface area to hone a Kamisori comfortably. As a hone, it serves well as a touch up or pre finishing stone with the ability to finish a Kamisori after the mud is broken down and worked. If light pressure is used, the resulting edges are extremely sharp and comfortable to shave with. As a Tomo Nagura on a harder base stone, this piece is great as the slurry starts out fast and more aggressive but mellows out and refined nicely. A rare little gem!
