Mizukihara Uchigumori Hato Renge Namazu Japanese Natural Toishi Whetstone

Beautiful silky smooth and velvety Uchigumori. The Renge is very dense and runs through the entire stone.
It is an old mined piece selected by the current miners being stored in their warehouse.They all have faster cutting performance across the board compared to the ones currently being mined. 
They estimate it’s mining date to be in the 1950’s as they haven't seen Uchigumori with this specific pattern/look since those days. Unfortunately, this stone has a line within one of the vertical white Namazu (catfish pattern) extending from the bottom edge of the stone. It has been removed and upkeep will be very straightforward. With the line removed, the stone performs as though it isn't there. Being vertical, it doesn't affect edge sharpening either.
The stone is velvety smooth while honing water only. There is an underlying feel of consistent particle uniformity and cutting speed is wonderful for soft Uchigumori, making it unique. With diamond plate slurry, the speed increases and stone performs a bit more coarse. The slurry is very pink and beautiful. This will remove medium grit scratches with ease and replace them with a deep, dark haze. It also works to mellow out the edge from medium grit. For knives, the stone is absolutely spectacular with great speed and ease of use. The polish is very deep and dark on the Jigane. The core is left white and hazy. Dream Stone for Kasumi and Hayuza for Honyaki/swords.
