NOTE: This listing is to purchase one hone only. We are showing a few examples in the photos so that you can see examples of the various stone coloring, figuring and surface conditions.
Offered here are rare White variety of Tam O Shanter sharpening stones, a piece of history from the original workshop on the Dalmore estate in rural Stair, Scotland.

Characterized by a speckled pattern, these stones exhibit an aesthetically stunning appearance. The white Tam O'Shanter, prized for its ability to achieve "very fine cuts," surpasses the grit rating of ordinary gray Tam O Shanter hones and approaches 12,000 grit. Its applications extend to meticulous edge finishing or the removal of micro blemishes, resulting in extra keen cutting edges. Notably, these stones demonstrate compatibility with razors susceptible to micro-chipping. Employing a slurry enhances the stone's polishing efficiency, elevating the speed at which they perform.

As new but old stock, each stone comes with rough-sawn surface as cut at the workshop on Dalmore Estate. These are hand quarried, natural stones, and as such the color, size and shape will vary slightly from stone to stone. The stone surfaces are pictured dry, and finally wet in the last 2 photos. A selection of representative examples can be seen in the photos.

Lapping Service: For those seeking immediate use, we offer a lapping service at checkout to flatten and smoothen the stone's surface. Add this item to your cart Lapping Service and we will flatten your stone before shipment up to a fine finish. Please allow an extra 2-3 business days after purchase for us to perform this service.
