This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected and purchased by us directly from Japan, then thoroughly tested and coated with cashew lacquer on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use.

Medium hard Aizu Koppa certified as authentic by the Natural Whetstone Museum in Kyoto. This is a high quality classic Aizu with firm base, fast cutting abilities and a wide range of finishes depending on how it's used. Water only honing is smooth and one can feel the firm base underneath. Cutting speed is mild and the polish is rather bright and refined for a medium grit stone. when slurried, the stone behaves differently with cutting speed drastically increased and the polish much more even and coarse. A very versatile stone whose performance is ultimately up to the end user making it a very versatile little koppa.
