Extremely high quality Sword Grade Binsui Naka Toishi (Medium Grit) stone sourced from a sword polishing expert in Japan. Just like the previous pair of Sword Grade Binsui, these stones are characterized by fast cutting speed and finishing much more fine than they start out as. These Binsui have beautiful purple Renge like speckling throughout. These Medium Grit stones are used for setting the bevel on razors and knives. They are great for bevel setting as they start out more coarse and have suitable hardness for breaking down mud.

Each individual hone has been fully tested, coated on 4 sides with 4 coats of cashew lacquer and the results are below:

4025: This particular example has a nice, firm base and self slurries lightly under a Kamisori. The stone's slurry is quite grit rich and uniform in nature. The feedback is smooth and the razor keeps moving without harsh feeling and has a pleasant sound. Both sides of the stone can be used and all of these examples seem to have a slight variance in hardness. This feature makes the stone even more versatile. This stone removed scratches from Omura and left a nicely set bevel and hazy finish.

4027: This stone has a firm base and will self slurry under the weight of a razor, lightly. The slurry is grit rich and slightly more coarse feeling than #4025 but the feeling is still uniform. It removes scratches from Omura efficiently and the feedback is quite nice. The polish is slightly more coarse and hazy.

4028: This particular stone is quite firm compared to the other Binsui in this batch. It has a very unique and fine feel for Binsui and the quality is immediately obvious when honing. It self slurries quite lightly and the feel of the slurry is quite velvety and rich with high pitch, whispy sound. Being a bit harder, the stone is capable of breaking down the slurry without releasing very many fresh, coarse particles. This results in a beautiful bright and hazy polish. Both sides of the stone are amazing with the purple and orange side a bit softer and the white side a bit more firm. Amazing Stone!

A photo of example the stones' polishing ability on a high quality Japanese kitchen knife is shown.
