Miyazaki Akamonzen Aoto Japanese Natural Toishi Whetstone for Knives and Razors

This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected and purchased by us directly from Japan, then thoroughly tested and coated with cashew lacquer on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use.
Approximate Dimensions/Weight:
215mm (8.46 inches) long × 52mm (2.05 inches) wide × 74mm (2.91 inches) tall, and weighs 1704g (3.75 pounds).
Beautiful red Akamonzen Aoto from Miyagawa. This stone isn't super soft and a mud bath like many other Red Aoto seen today. This stone has a semi firm base which releases fine, rich, red mud. The feeling of the slurry is very light and fine compared to modern Aoto which tend to spit out large particles causing uneven finish. This Type of Aoto can be used to remove medium grit scratches and leaves a blanket of Haze. It can be followed up by a harder Aoto, harder Naka Toishi or a stone like Uchigumori. This is a rare red Aoto which can be used for razors/Kamisori as well as it has a firm enough base. The original sticker remains sealed to the stone. Museum Level Stone.
