Ozuku Tomae Asagi Kan Karasu 40' - Japanese Natural Finishing Toishi Whetstone
Quantité:
Dimensions/Weight:
208 mm long (8.19 in) × 77 mm wide (3.03 in) × 27 mm tall (1.06 in) / 1160 grams (2.56 lbs)
This is a wonderful example of Ozuku Mizu Asagi. With beautiful Kan and phantom Karasu running throughout the stone, the end user will have a stone which changes color/patterns as it's worn down. There are clear layers of Karasu seen on the sides of the stones. This type of Kan ring is non toxic and can't be felt.
The stone is very hard and dense making it perfect for razors. Although the stone is very hard and fine, it is not without feeling/texture. It has a very gentle feel and reading feedback is rather quiet but present.
Water only honing is exceedingly smooth and pleasant with ultra fine feel underneath the razor. Diamond plate slurry will add texture, speed up cutting ability and adds a whispy feel to the equation. Mikawa Nagura Progressions are where this stone really excells. The feedback is hushed a bit but it's still very evident and readable. The stone won't give up any of itself even with harder Mikawa Nagura. The edges this stone produces are super keen and comfortable to shave with. This stone is a bit hard and fine for knives but doesn't scratch the blade. It produces an extremely bright and fine mirror like finish. In summary, this stone makes a great lifetime finisher for razors that will change in appearance over time. It isn't a dead, lifeless piece of Ozuku which can be found all over.
